My six year old daughter was born premature and extremely small for gestation, but with a lot of care and love, I have been able to keep her on in the tenth percentile since she was two. However, in the last month and a half, she has fallen off the charts again in height and weight, has been non-stop sick, has been wetting the bed a lot more the last three to four months (every night for the last two months), and is constantly thirsty and/or hungry. Could she possibly have diabetes?

The symptoms that your daughter is experiencing certainly brings to mind the possibility of diabetes mellitus. There are other conditions that this could be, including urinary tract issues. It would be prudent to have her seen by her pediatrician or family doctor in the near future to have her fasting blood glucose analyzed along with a urine test for sugar. If the fasting test is normal, it might still be a good idea to check the level again two hours after she has eaten a hearty breakfast with lots of carbs (like pancakes with syrup) to try to reassure you more. If the possibility of diabetes can be crossed off the list, then your doctor can look for other causes of the symptoms.
