Question from Virginia, USA:

I’m a teenager with type 1 diabetes. I’m planning to go on a college-visiting trip for a few days. I keep good control and don’t have problems with really low or high sugars usually. Is it necessary to tell collage administrators or others that I have diabetes?

Answer:

From: DTeam Staff

No — there is no need to tell them you have diabetes.

Additional comments from Jeff Hitchcock, The Editor:

If you’re spending the night in a dorm with other students, you may wish to let one of them know that you have diabetes, just in case you need some help.
