My 76 year old mother has diabetes. What effect, if any, does insulin have on the liver and kidneys?

Answer:

Insulin has effects on the liver and kidney from a metabolic standpoint in that insulin prevents these organs from making and exporting glucose into the blood. However, insulin does not have toxic effects on these organs.
