Question from Edinburgh, Scotland:
I take quite large (several grams) doses of vitamin C every day. At times, for example when I am ill, my blood glucose levels are not that well controlled. However my long term Hba1c test is always quite good, usually around 7. Could this be due to the vitamin C or is it something else?

I can think of no reason why Vitamin C should affect your blood glucose control.

Additional comments from Dr. Bill Quick:
Of course, it’s expected that blood sugar levels would be less well-controlled in anybody with diabetes during any acute illness.
