Question from Pennsylvania, USA:
My 13 year old son has been recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, and he is taking Humalog with NPH at breakfast and dinner. Is there a maximum dose of NPH that should be given at the bedtime dose to reduce risk of nighttime hypoglycemia?

There really is no “cap” for an upper limit of NPH (or any other insulin for that matter), in practicality. You give as much as you need that provides the glucose control you want while trying to minimize risk of hypoglycemia.
