Question from :

From Spokane, Washington, USA type1 diabetes, and my other girl is a bit overweight. (She has a nice belly showing.) What are the odds of her developing type 2 diabetes? What are the chances the rest of my children will get any type of diabetes?

Answer:

From: DTeam Staff

See The Risk of Developing Type 1 Diabetes.

TGL

[Editor’s comment: Type2 diabetes is inherited independently from type1 diabetes. So, the fact that you have one child with type 1 does not mean increased risk of type 2 in the other children, and an only slightly increased risk of type 1.
