Question from Henderson, North Carolina, USA:

I was diagnosed with diabetes approximately three years ago, and I have read some information about ketones. Is there any way of testing at home?

Answer:

From: DTeam Staff

Ketones can be tested for by using a dipstick method on your urine at home. This is recommended, especially for type1 diabetes patients who are prone to develop DKA [diabetic ketoacidosis].

[Editor’s comment: The Precision Xtra blood glucose meter can also be used to test blood for ketones.
