Hypoglycemia

advertisement
Question from 29 Palms, California, USA:

Approximately what percentage of children under the age of 13 in the United States develop hypoglycemia?

Answer:

From: DTeam Staff

If you are thinking of children without diabetes:

While I don’t have epidemiological data, clinical data says hypoglycemia is at least a hundred times more rare than diabetes, maybe more.

Additional comments from Dr. Stuart Brink:

If you are thinking of children with diabetes:

Everyone who has diabetes and takes insulin will have hypoglycemia at some point in time. Usually it’s mild, and often an inconvenience. Current treatment does not allow complete prevention, only decreased risk with education and awareness.
