Question from Kansas City, Missouri, USA:
Our 14 year old son was diagnosed three weeks ago with type1. His symptoms came on fairly quickly, and his blood sugar was 1900 mg/dl [105.6 mmol/L] when we took him to the hospital. He’s doing fine now and feels pretty tough to have hit such a high number and not gone into a coma. What is the “record” blood sugar level and still be semi-aware?
Answer:
From: DTeam Staff
The record for an unconscious patient was 5600 mg/dl [311.1 mmol/L]. See a previous question . I don’t think anyone keeps track of “semi-aware” records.
Best wishes for a healthy and happy new year — and don’t try to set any new records!
