Question from Granite City, Illinois, USA:
When people of working age who have diabetes go blind from this disease and lose their jobs, does anyone (besides welfare and public aid) help these people financially? If so, who? If not, why not?
Answer:
From: DTeam Staff
Generally, public entitlement programs and private insurance plans that provide a benefit for disability would assist the person who suffers from a complete loss of sight as a result of disease. These plans range from Medicare, to state disability programs, as well as short and long term group disability insurance plans that many have access through their employment or a professional association.
