Insurance/Costs
Question from Iowa, USA:
Does Health insurance usually cover diabetic camps for children? Also do they cover any costs of the Diabetic conferences?
Answer:
Health insurance covers medically necessary treatment and related durable medical equipment for the treatment of illness or injury. Every insurer is required to provide each policyholder or beneficiary a copy of the terms of the policy known as Evidence of Coverage. This booklet describes what is covered under the policy or contract and what is excluded from coverage.
Full disclosure: I am employed by an HMO.

Additional comments from Jeff Hitchcock, CWD Founder and Editor:
Some families have insurance that covers at least part of the cost of diabetes camps, so check with your insurer.
