Diagnosis and Symptoms

Question from Denver, Colorado, USA:

I have been urinating frequently and am often very tired. My doctor made me do a urine test to test for glucose and the test was negative. Are urine tests always accurate?

Answer:

From: DTeam Staff

Urine testing is not always accurate. In the presence of the typical symptoms of diabetes, such as frequent urination, excessive hunger and thirst, and weight loss or gain, more detailed testing than a urine screen should be considered. Please see Classification and Diagnosis of Diabetes for further details.
