Question from Brooklyn, New York, USA:

I am referring to a question dated August 31, 2002 . You stated in the question that, in your laboratory, a GAD antibody index greater than 0.05 would be considered positive and one greater than 0.5 would be considered as high. My sister says hers is 0.2. Would this anti-GAD65 result be mild or moderately positive?

Answer:

From: DTeam Staff

The level of anti-GAD antibody appears to be elevated and would suggest a person would be at risk for autoimmune diabetes in the appropriate setting.
