My nine year old daughter has type 1 diabetes which is very much difficult to control even though we give human insulin regularly. Is there any other long acting insulin to control sugar? Is there any permanent cure in any part of world or any oral treatment to control type 1 diabetes?

Unfortunately, there is no cure for type 1 diabetes, which must be treated by insulin, which must be given by injections or shots. There is presently no other choice. However, there are different types of insulin that do last different lengths of time:

Some insulins are very fast-acting (but don’t last very long) and include insulins named Humalog and NovoLog in the US. Other insulins start to work pretty quickly and last a few hours. Examples in the US have been called Regular and Semi-Lente. Still other insulins last for several hours (but do not work right away). In the US these are named NPH and Lente. Finally, there are indeed very long lasting insulins (that only start to work after a few hours, however). In the US, one is called Ultralente and the other is called Lantus (insulin glargine).
