Do acanthosis nigricans and type 1 diabetes occur together? I have a ten year old girl with autoimmune adrenal insufficiency, vitiligo, positive GAD antibodies with a low first phase insulin response (less than 1%) and has just been diagnosed with acanthosis nigricans by a dermatologist. She is thin and seems to be developing puberty normally. How can her insulin levels be very low and she have this skin problem?
