Question from Voluntown, Connecticut, USA:

My 12 year old daughter has had type 1 diabetes for six years and her blood sugars have always been in decent control overall. Her A1cs are always below 7%. She has recently developed white spots on all of her fingernails. She has had no trauma to her hands. Could this have anything to do with diabetes or should I be taking her to a dermatologist or other doctor?

Answer:

From: DTeam Staff

I doubt that this is related to her diabetes. I would ask her pediatrician to take a look at the spots.
