Question from Cambridge, England:
Could an HbA1c test, which I understand checks the hemoglobin content in the blood, simultaneously have been able to detect anemia which I believe is similarly concerned with hemoglobin count? Or, will I need to have a separate blood test specifically for anemia?

The hemoglobin level, which measures the amount of hemoglobin in the blood, is different from the hemoglobin A1c, which is a measure of the fraction of hemoglobin that has glucose attached to it. They are separate tests.
