Other than specific diabetes medications, are there any other medications that can raise or lower one’s blood sugar?

There are a number of drugs that are known to raise glucose levels, as well as those that may lower glucose. Some of the drugs that can raise glucose include pentamidine, niacin, any steroid (especially if taken orally), other hormones (such as growth hormone), and thiazides at higher doses, above 25 mg per day. Those that can lower glucose include Welchol, ACE inhibitors (have been suggested to), and a variety of drugs in the presence of kidney or liver disease.
