School and Daycare
Question from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA:
We developed a 504 plan each year for at least the past five years. The school never signs off on this. Is it still valid without the schools signature?
Answer:
Please call the American Diabetes Association at 1-800-DIABETES to discuss this further with ADA’s Legal Advocacy staff.
Has the plan been developed in cooperation with the school? In other words, is this a plan that everyone has agreed upon or is it a plan that parent wrote and submitted? More information is needed. However, all parties should sign the plan to acknowledge agreement and then move forward with the next steps to implement the plan which should be to make sure that teachers and others responsible for the student all understand and perform their respective roles and responsibilities under the plan.
