My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes eight months ago. One month ago, they checked her kidney function and HbA1c. The HbA1c is 6.7, but the uric acid in blood was exorbitant – 485. Yesterday, we checked it again and the result was 517. Except for the uric acid, the other testing index was normal. By the way, last year, when newly diagnosed, her uric acid level was 175. Diet did not change much after illness. What should we do?

This is very unusual. We do not usually see uric acid elevations associated with type 1 diabetes. Sometimes, with obesity-related type 2 diabetes in adults, or occasionally in children/adolescents, uric acid elevations are also present. In any case, you should discuss this with your diabetes team and if it stays elevated, a medication called allopurinol should be readily available and easy to correct the situation.
