I’ve had these disease for almost 10 years, and it certainly has provided a lot of challenges. I was in an area where I was the only type 1 diabetic, and it lead to a lot of stigma and judgement. Despite this, I push passed the mental struggles and social judgment, and I am currently on a journey to love myself and all the things that come with my body. I have worked as a Shift Lead for 2 years, I practiced ballet, tap, jazz, and musical theatre for 11 years, I have stage managed going on 3 years, and I have just started college. It is so scary to try and achieve things on your own with T1D; it feels impossible. It is so draining and exhausting to juggle normal challenges on top of such a dangerous disease. But I’ve figured it out, and I do not regret my diagnosis anymore.
