I was diagnosed just after my third birthday. I have no memories of my life before diabetes. I spend a lot of time thinking about what I eat and doing the math to keep myself alive. In the beginning that task fell to my parents, but now I handle my own care. I’m a freshmen in high school, run Cross Country, participate in scouts, backpack with my family, and love to sing. I also have a twin sister with Type 1. I’m grateful for all the medical advances that make my life easier. I am proud of what I have accomplished in life so far and can’t wait to continue making a difference in my world.
