Julie Falconer
Fifty years ago I was officially diagnosed with type 1 diabetes — February 2nd, 1973. I thought about it quite a bit yesterday thinking I guess it’s not a big deal. No bigger deal than last year but then I woke up this morning thinking of ALL the people that this has affected along with me. My mama, Sue Yoakam and my dad. Thousands of shots, nights in the hospital, teaching solo shots with an orange, countless hours at the Barbara Davis Center seeing Sandy Hoops and the gang. Countless nights collecting 24 hour pee 😂😅 samples. Too much worry to even imagine. Letting me head off to elementary school every day and depending on others to take care of me. Technology was not what it is now in the 70’s. My friends through out the years who have supported me, made me laugh, bought me food, made sure things in their houses or at dinner were ok for me, Emily Walton and Angie Trustdorf Brazell and Deyon Taylor ❤️. Of course my hunky husband, Scott Falconer, for just being the most amazing partner for almost 30 years (more than that really but 30 year wedding anniversary this summer). Your support and love and knowledge and guidance and too much more to mention has been amazing. We have two blessings, Jonah Falconer and Ben Falconer (and then the doctor said NO MORE, quit while your organs are still good 😊) and now we have added two more blessings, Kylee Falconer and Lucy Falconer to this family. To all of you who have supported me and protected me, I Love You ♥️♥️
