Alex

From Alex’s mom:

“What’s your number?” A question you hear in our family many times each day. “Are you high?” That question gets interesting looks from strangers in public. Alex was the second of three to be diagnosed with T1D in our small family – first his mom at age 38, then himself at age three, then his older sister at age 11. It is hard to believe it’s been 10 years since Alex was diagnosed and it has been quite a journey. Because he was diagnosed so young, Alex doesn’t know life any different than nightly juices, beeps from his phone and CGM, highs and lows, testing BG (originally finger poking and luckily now with a CGM), replacing devices on his arms and legs, and waiting to eat. He is a T1D advocate and an ambassador with JDRF and honestly we couldn’t be prouder of how responsible Alex is and how he positively deals with T1D. The Journey Award and gathering of others getting their Journey Awards is a meaningful reminder to Alex that he is not alone in the fight to deal with and cure T1D and marks a milestone demonstrating how far we’ve come and the technology has come in such a short time.
