Kendrick was diagnosed as an infant in diapers. He was the first person in my family to be diagnosed with T1D. It has been a journey but I want to encourage him to keep holding on to hope for a cure because he has come this far. During Hurricane Katrina, our family was homeless and moved from place to place. We even had to keep his insulin cold in cups from the local gas station when we had to sleep in our car. He has graduated high school with a 3.2 GPA but is still trying to figure out adulting with his illness.
