When I was 14 I lost 40 pounds in three days. When I’m finally made it to the ER my blood sugar was 1600. Doctors told my parents I would not survive the night. They even told my best friend’s parents. However, I did survive. The secret to my life: I will not let diabetes run my life. I will run diabetes. When I became a diabetic, there was no way to test your blood sugar — that was not invented yet. I decided I would not slow down. I’ve traveled all over the world, run a mission organization, and started numerous other companies as well. Unfortunately, diabetics are taught to jump on the pump. Do exactly what the doctor orders from taking insulin and that is not right. We need to learn that our bodies so we can make our own adjustments. If you do not do that you are gonna be crippled with how your life is lived. Have a normal life, but to do that learn about how your body reacts to insulin and know what to do when your body reacts to insulin. 45 years being a diabetic I have not been in the hospital other than when I was diagnosed.
