I have had type one diabetes since I was 7 years old. I have made it through so many obstacles in my life. I had my first child when I was 22, he was born a big boy but healthy! On August 7th, 2022 my mother, who was the greatest advocate for my health and my biggest supporter, ended her life by her own hand. The following year was filled with complicated grief, yet I pushed through. My a1c was the best it has ever been at 5.8. It has since gone up to 6.3 but that’s still great! I have had a rough life with chronic health conditions but as it turns out, I’m tough as hell and can make it through anything. My mom always reminded me that and now I have to do that for myself. Last year was my 25th year with type 1 diabetes and my mom lost her battle with depression before she was able to see me make it to 25 years, beating diabetes butt. I’m grateful that I’ve made it this far! Here’s to making it to the next checkpoint! 🖤
