My diabetes journey has been one hectic battle. In 2011, August 11th when I was first diagnosed, I collapsed on the hospital lobby floor working on having a heart and a stroke with a blood sugar level of 700. I didn’t know I had diabetes. I spent three days in ICU on an insulin drip and two days upstairs learning about the newly found disease that changed my life. I was misdiagnosed at first. They said I was type 2. For two years I was in the honeymoon stage. Then my sugar started to go higher and out of control. I was put on insulin, three different pumps, and multiple different pills. It’s a battle I wish on nobody. I am the second only known type 1 diabetic in both side of my family. 2016, I got pregnant and was full term. Diabetes claimed my baby’s life before I had her. It has taken my life over creating problems that I didn’t know I could have. Anxiety and the depression. It all real. The way your thought process is. It ways on your mind everyday all day. It’s there for life. But I try for my life everyday that I get to wake up and life the best I can.

since 2011
