My sister Leann was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age nine and she has never let it stop her from doing anything. She has done multiple international mission trips and is now the director of the Tennessee Camp for Diabetic Children (TCDC). She grew up going to TCDC every year and it is her happy place. Growing up with a sister with Type 1 has also influenced my career path. I am a nurse practitioner in an Endocrinology clinic and am involved in the Epidemiology of Diabetes Interventions and Complications Trial.
