Acis

From his mom, Trina:

A 10 year rollercoaster of ups, downs and all the crazy! My son, Acis was diagnosed at five years old. I was completely lost, broken and confused. How was I going to take care of my little boy? I haven’t the first clue what to do. I already missed all of the obvious signs. He was strong though!

We were flown to Denver children’s hospital that night because he was in DKA mode full force! What a blessing! All of the medical staff were amazing! After about two weeks, he was being discharged home.. with me.. no doctors or nurses. Just the two of us! Boy was I afraid, but Acis was thrilled to be going home. But great news came! There is a fantastic Diabetes Center right across the way and we’re going!

The Barbra Davis Center! A group of caring, passionate and dedicated individuals! We got all of the support, supplies and education imaginable!

Then it was finally time! We were on or way home!

We were up all hours of the night! This was my panic not so much his. Poking, injecting, eating and repeating! Aw the life!
Here we are today! Coming up on his 10 year diaversary! I can’t believe how far he has come letting nothing hold him back! He is not a T1D that plays baseball and loves school… he is my boy! The baseball player who loves school!

Thriving with T1D
since 2015
