Being diagnosed with diabetes could have been the scariest thing in the world for our family, but an angel changed the trajectory of our lives. The director at the pre-k school was the mother of a type 1 diabetic and recognized the signs. She loved us enough to share what she thought might be true and she was right. She fought for our daughter to remain at school and provided the training needed for our daughter, our family, and her staff to feel safe and competent moving into a new life endeavor. She will always be our angel and she helped us see that diabetes is a part of our lives but is not in control of our lives.
