I was diagnosed at age seven and learned from my type 1 diabetic father how to care for myself in this new “normal.” I grew up with some bumps in the diabetes road, but made it through two pregnancies and I have two beautiful sons. My eldest son was just diagnosed type 1, and I was so glad to be able to help him through his journey as well, knowing firsthand what it is like. I’m now 32 years old with a beautiful family that counts carbs and boluses together.
