TeamCWD Frequently Asked Questions

TeamCWD is a fundraising initiative where participants run in the Walt Disney World® Marathon Weekend events to raise funds for Children with Diabetes. The funds go towards our Friends for Life Orlando conference and scholarships to support families living with type 1 diabetes.

We hope you will join us as a participant for TeamCWD by fundraising and running in at least one of the available events! If you plan to join us for one of the runDisney events, you will register with TeamCWD at cwd.is/RegisterforTeamCWD and must create your fundraising page within 14 days of registering at cwd.is/runfundraiser. If you cannot participate in the race, you can donate to one of our participating runners at cwd.is/runfundraiser.

The following races are available for TeamCWD runners at the 2026 Disney Marathon Weekend:

  • 5K ($600 fundraising minimum)
  • 10K ($700 fundraising minimum)
  • Half Marathon ($900 fundraising minimum)
  • Full Marathon ($1,200 fundraising minimum)
  • Goofy Challenge ($1,500 fundraising minimum), and
  • Dopey Challenge ($2,000 fundraising minimum).

You must meet that fundraising minimum by November 21, 2025 to receive the link to obtain your official race bib from runDisney.

Our fundraising minimums have increased slightly in response to rising event and operational costs. These funds are vital for sustaining our scholarship programs and ensuring that more families can attend the Friends for Life conference, which supports those affected by type 1 diabetes.

Funds raised by TeamCWD go directly to the scholarship program for the Friends for Life Orlando conference, the world’s largest event for families and individuals living with type 1 diabetes, making it accessible to those in need.

All TeamCWD runners receive a guaranteed race bib, TeamCWD swag box, fundraising tools, and coaching from our Director of Advancement. Plus, all your bib fees contribute to your fundraising goal.

TeamCWD runners who do not meet their fundraising minimum by November 21, 2025, forfeit their bib and registration fees. All donations are non-refundable. We encourage participants to fundraise early. Our Advancement team will be available to answer fundraising questions and provide tools to meet your fundraising goals

Absolutely! We encourage all TeamCWD to exceed the fundraising goal. Every extra dollar raised helps us support more families through our scholarship programs and the Friends for Life conference.

Once you meet the fundraising minimum, we will email you the official race registration link to secure your spot. Don’t forget, you need to raise the minimum by November 21, 2025, to guarantee your bib. Official race registration links will only be sent to TeamCWD members who have met their fundraising minimum.

Once you have registered for the race using the unique link that CWD will email you after you meet your fundraising minimum, you will begin to receive communication directly from runDisney regarding race day events, bib pick-up times and locations, and other important information. You must pick up your bib from the race exposition center no later than one day prior to your race. You must be present for your bib pick-up and have a government issued photo ID.

We can change your race distance as long as TeamCWD still has that distance available. If you move to a less expensive race with a lower fundraising minimum, please remember that all bib fees and funds raised are non-refundable.

We highly recommend staying on Disney property for race weekend. Disney has buses that transport runners and spectators to the race from all Disney hotels. Those same buses will be waiting at the finish line for you when you complete your race. Should you choose to stay off property, you will have to arrange transportation and road closures could impact your ability to get to the race on time. Please remember that Disney recommends that you arrive no later than 4:00 a.m. for most races.

Children with Diabetes is working with Disney to set up a charity room block. We will let all TeamCWD members know as soon as this information is available.

TeamCWD plans to offer numerous coaching calls with past TeamCWD runners, some of whom are elite level marathon athletes. Disney also offers training tips online at www.rundisney.com/running-training-programs.

We plan to do at least one meet-up event for our TeamCWD runners. Stay tuned!

All TeamCWD Swag must be picked up onsite at our expo table this year. This savings in shipping cost will allow us to provide you with even better swag! More details on swag pick-up to come at a later date.
