Allison
From her mom, Jessica:
Allison was diagnosed during second grade. I thought she had the flu. The signs and symptoms of T1D started to piece together and by the end of the weekend I realized it wasn’t the flu. After a short stay at Children’s hospital in Wauwatosa, WI, we were sent home. The endocrine clinic was so helpful and over time we added a Dexcom and pump to our routine. Allison began figure skating soon after her diagnosis and moved on to synchronized skating, where her team has made it to Nationals multiple times. Through it all, figure skating has helped her learn how manage her diabetes. She is conscious about what she is eating and what she needs to eat to fuel her body for synchro practice. Allison has learned how live her life with diabetes. Sure diabetes gets in the way sometimes and can be frustrating to manage but Allison doesn’t let that get her down. In the fall she plans to attend college to become a registered nurse.
