My diabetes journey started with pretty much the normal things that people diagnosed with type 1 diabetes go through and my life has certainly had its ups and downs. I also developed thyroid cancer and with the diabetes and thyroid cancer, life had been quite a struggle, but I managed with a good support system. Later, as I developed a few diabetic complications, I found that a diabetic alert service dog might benefit me. I searched and researched for both a dog and how to train for scent training and got and found a beautiful wonderful companion named Bailey who has certainly she saved my life on more than one occasion she has been pure joy. I’m well into my 50s now, I thrive with the help of advancements in the treatment of diabetes, insulin delivery, and my trusted companion Bailey. I look forward to enjoying each day as a gift and thankful for all the adventures along the way.
