John Stittsworth
I was diagnosed with Diabetes 1 at the age of 13 on October 13, 1967. It’s funny how certain dates stand out in your mind, some good some not so good. I remember asking my dad when I would be cured of diabetes, and the only time I’ve seen him cry was when he told me there was only something called insulin to take by injection. Things have changed in the last 57 years for the betterment of controlling my diabetes with the invention of the pump and CGM. Still no real cure, but I’am hanging in there for the hope that some day myself and fellow Diabetics will no longer be dependent on insulin.
