Getting diabetes at the age of nine was definitely difficult and different. I had lived a whole “normal” life for nine years before getting thrown into a whole new world. I went through my own struggles and journey, I mourned my old, non-diabetic life, but I had the best support system I could have asked for. Now almost 16 years later, I still have struggles but now I am in control of how my life goes with Type 1 Diabetes. It wasn’t easy, and I’ll still have moments of struggle, but if I can manage 15+ years of diabetes, I can manage anything.
