When I was diagnosed in October of 2000 I first began treatment with NPH and R. Eventually, Lantus and Humalog and by 5th grade I got my first pump! It was a pink Medtronic. There have been many struggles along the way but I am so grateful for the technology that allows me to live life to the fullest. I would have never dreamed when I was little I’d have a CGM! Eventually, I upgraded to the Tandem and it has been life changing for me. My A1c remains under 7, which was a struggle for me in my 20s. I relied on injections and rationing insulin for a long time before I got a job with good health benefits. I now live a life I never dreamed of with my little family.
