I had just turned five when I got sick with the flu. My doctors office advised my mom to give me Gatorade to keep me hydrated. When she called back to explain my symptoms, my high blood sugar symptoms she just didn’t know it yet, a doctor walking by overheard and grabbed the phone, telling her to go to the hospital immediately. I went into a coma on the way to the hospital, when I got there my blood sugar was in the 1500s. My life with diabetes has been a constant battle and unfortunately I suffer from multiple complications. I don’t let that stop me and have committed to making the most of whatever time I have left. I am simultaneously the healthiest and sickest I have ever been. I’m so blessed to have a beautiful 13 year old son, an incredibly supportive and wonderful husband, and a life full of adventures with them.
