Charli

From her mother, Jamie:

Charli was diagnosed with T1D when she was 18 months of age. She was in severe DKA at the time of diagnosis and spent 8 days in the PICU. We have taught her that she’s not defined by T1D and she has never lost her sparkle. She volunteers for Breakthrough T1D. She also welcomes new families and helps in their new normal. She’s independent and can change her own pump, bolus, etc since she was 6 years old. She’s my hero and will always be my hero. She has lived with T1D longer than she has not, and has no recollection of life before T1D. She plays volleyball, softball, and is a cheerleader. Nothing has stopped Charli from doing things she loves. She is compassionate, empathetic and kind. We have lived by kids first and diabetes second, for that reason she has thrived and has been confident about wearing devices.
