At 2.5 years old, I was diagnosed with T1D. I don’t remember life without it; it’s always been a part of my life. I credit going to diabetes camp (Bearskin Meadow, DYF) from a young age with giving me the tools I needed to handle diabetes and being able to not think of it as a big deal. I have been able to do anything I wanted: play sports, ride motorcycles, go hiking, and even work for the National Park Service and become a first responder. Through it all, I know I have a community I can lean on and everything I need to be able to succeed in life.
