
Gluten-Free Apple Crisp
A fall favorite, minus the gluten
Ingredients
Base
- 4 cups peeled sliced apples(use your favorite, or a variety – Granny Smith, gala, Braeburn, honey crisp)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
Crisp
- 1 cup gluten-free rolled oats
- ½ cup almond flour
- ¼ cup chopped pecans
- ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- ¼ cup melted butter (can substitute margarine or coconut oil)
- ¼ cup maple syrup
- dash salt
Instructions
- Set oven to 375°.
- In a large bowl, mix together sliced peeled apples with lemon juice, cinnamon, and maple syrup.
- Add apple mixture to a 9x9 baking dish, spread out into one even layer.
- To prepare the crisp topping, melt butter in the microwave. In a bowl, combine oats, almond flour, pecans, nutmeg, cinnamon, salt. Pour melted butter and maple syrup over oat mixture. Combine well until clumps form.
- Add crisp topping blend onto apples in an even layer.
- Bake for 30 minutes or until crisp starts to brown.
- Serve warm on its own or top with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
- Storage: store covered in the fridge for up to 3 days.
