My 11 year old daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age eight. I have had horrible pains in my legs, and I’m almost positive it’s from diabetes because I’m not so good with consistently taking my shots. Before and after meals, it’s well inside the safe levels. If my blood sugar readings remain at these levels, will I experience diabetes related health problems?

My 16 month old daughter has been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. How common is it to have diabetes so young? Is the long term prognosis any different for her than someone who is diagnosed when they are older? Is there much knowledge of the treatment and effects of diabetes at such a young age?
