We are extremely concerned about our eleven year old granddaughter who has had diabetes since she was seven, and has been in and out of the hospital many times in the last several years. The doctors cannot understand what is going on, they say that she is a “hard case”, we are afraid that we are losing her, and we don’t know what to do.

I developed very severe reactive hypoglycemia. Although my fasting blood sugar is perfect, as soon as I experience anything that will elevate my blood sugar, whether it be simple carbohydrates, or stress, I get an immediate high followed promptly by a horrible low. I really do not think she could take a pill. What other options are there for a little one as her if she does not have type 2 diabetes yet?

My fiance, who has had diabetes for a year and half, has been taking one shot a day of NPH since his diagnosis, and his sugar has been fine, but for the last month or so, he has been running higher and higher. He does not have a diabetes team, his family physician is now hundreds of miles away, and I called every endocrinologist in the area, but no one will see him. What should we do? Should he see a doctor? If so, where?

My 16 year old nephew is visiting from Mexico and has diabetes, I don’t know what type, but he gets two insulin shots every day. However, they no longer seem to be as effective as the way they are supposed to. Can you refer me to a good doctor to see if he could get a prescription for something stronger?
