My husband is currently in his honeymoon period. His blood sugar is high in the afternoon, and he is tired in the evening. His endocrinologist seems to think that is okay. Can’t blood sugars like this shorten his honeymoon period? Could this tiredness be a result of the high blood sugars?

My daughter only has one shot of 6 units of NPH in the morning. This lasts her through supper, then at bedtime she is usually in the 200s mg/dl [11.1 mmol/L] and the same at 3 am. Even at those high numbers, her morning sugar is in the low 100s mg/dl [5.6 mmol/L]. Should she be having an injection to cover those two time frames when she is high or will she just end up going too low by morning?

My daughter was diagnosed in July of 2003. About two months ago, we were told to start one unit of Lantus to even out some highs after breakfast. The rest of the day she would fluctuate around 75-90 mg/dl [4.2-5.0 mmol/L]. Our diabetes educator told us that we want to see her blood sugars at around 100 mg/dl [5/6 mmol/L], so we stopped the Lantus. Should we do the Lantus again and try feeding her things with more carbohydrates?

Immediately after having a baby, I noticed a sharp decrease in my insulin dose, it has steadily declined for the past eleven months, and I am now taking 5 units a day total. My doctor ordered a C-peptide test. Is it actually possible that I could be making insulin this late in the game? Could something else be making my insulin requirement so low? Could my pancreas just start back up?
