Hypoglycemia

My 13 year old son, who has had diabetes for three years and has been on a pump for months, was pitching a baseball game when felt very low and dizzy on the mound, and his fruit drink was on the bench. Luckily the inning ended soon after. When he checked his blood sugar, he was 35 mg/dl [1.9 mmol/L]. How do other kids handle situations in sports like these? Should he have asked for a time out?

Lately, he’s been having low sugars (17-32 mg/dl [0.94- 1.8 mmol/L]) at least once a day, and for the past week, he can no longer tell when he is going low. Is this a bad sign? Could the pump this be the reason for the constant low sugars?

My six year old daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes shortly before her second birthday. Recently, she has woken up with terrible headaches. This morning she was unable to use her left arm. It was as if she was paralyzed on the left side. She can function fine after an hour and the headache subsides by noon. Could this be from going low at night?
