Hypoglycemia

My 22 year old son was diagnosed with type 1 about ten months ago. This past weekend he had his first incident of insulin shock but it happened at about 2 in the morning. Luckily his girlfriend was visiting and noticed he was incoherent in bed. What happens next time if she’s not there and how can this happen while sleeping?

My 20 year old daughter has had diabetes since age seven. I can honestly say she has had at least 30 full blown seizures. What is the best way to handle a seizure? Most important, what if she were to have the seizure and no one was there to get her out of it?

Should she be tested for other causes unrelated to reactive hypoglycemia? Diet control does not seems to have any effect on her lows at this time. Any suggestions are very much needed at this time.

I am so depressed. I feel good for a couple of hours then pow I am light headed, unstable, heart is racing and I have a terrible headache. I was told to use peanut butter in between meals. I am not a big carb eater, meat, high protein is what I usually ate until I fainted at work and found out I have hypoglycemia. My dietitian says no sweets and few carbs — I am miserable! How do I get myself stable?
