Insulin Analogs

advertisement
Question from Chino, California, USA:

After opening bottles of Lantus and Humalog insulins, how long can they be used? When should I dispose of them?

Answer:

From: DTeam Staff

The general consensus is that a vial of insulin can be used for 30 days after opening and that refrigeration is not needed as long as it is stored at normal room temperature.

Some people use a vial for more than 30 days, some for less. If you have unexplained high blood sugars, you might want to open a new vial of insulin to determine if bad insulin is partly to blame.
