Insulin Analogs, Insulin Pumps

advertisement
Question from Boston, Massachusetts, USA:

Are there any differences when using NovoLog insulin in an insulin pump rather than Humalog? I have heard that less NovoLog is needed and basal rates and insulin to carbohydrate ratios should be reduced.

There should not be any difference in insulin doses when switching between NovoLog and Humalog. Some people report that NovoLog is more heat stable and infusion set sites may last longer. We were unable to prove this in a randomized, blinded cross-over study.
