Are there any diluents to use with Levemir? My friends’ three-year-old child is on Levemir as a basal, twice daily, injected with single use low-dose syringes (0.5 ml). The problem is that a dose of 0.75 unit seems to be too much since his blood sugar drops at a rate of approximately 20 mg/dl per hour and 0.5 unit is obviously insufficient. They thought of dilution, but there seems to exist no diluent for Levemir. They previously used Protophane, but was not very effective for their child.
